A message from the Chair of the Board

I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who applied for a role on the Commission's Board in our recent recruitment. We had a very high level of interest. At the closing date, 13 August, we had received 269 substantive applications for the two Board member roles.
 
As well as having a large number of applications, the quality of the candidature was exceptionally high.  Clearly, this created an enviable but difficult task for me and my fellow selection panel members: how to select a manageable short list for interview.  After long and careful deliberation, we have selected nine candidates, whom we will see in early September before making our final decisions.
 
I am acutely aware of how much time and effort can go into applications of this sort and it is therefore disappointing not to be interviewed. If you are one of the 260 candidates who has not been selected for interview, please do be assured that your application was considered with careful interest and that the competition was fierce.
